All Special Things About Bail, TDS 11 (109505-4)

Usually, two part numbers can be found on the Bail when you receive it:

  • Bail, P/N: 109505-4
  • Bail, P/N: 109504-4

Part number 109504-4 refers to the forging of the 500-ton, 88-inch Bail used on a TDS-11. This is a blank forging that has not yet been machined to its final size or had the required holes drilled or machined.

Part number 104505-4 is the finished product of the above, completed after all final machining has been carried.

They cannot be used in place of each other. Customer should not be able to order 104504-4, only the finished product, 104505-4.

The bail is likely to have both part numbers on it. The original forging, 109504-4, can be used to produce various other part numbers and is stamped with 109504-4 during forging. Once machined to the required dimensions, the final part number is stamped in a different location.

Below are the specific dimensions. The complete drawing cannot be shared as it is proprietary. The forging, P/N 109504-4, will be stamped at the location shown below.

When I said they cannot be used interchangeably, I meant that if you ordered part number 109504-4, it would not be installable because it lacks the necessary holes.
The fact that the end user has been able to install it indicates that it is no longer part number 109504-4. The presence of machined holes makes it part number 109505-4.

P/N 109505-4 will be stamped near the bores on the side, as shown below.
